Anjalankoski

The Anjalankoski of today is a lively and developing town in southern Finland, with approx. 18.000 inhabitans. We appreciate history, live in the present and put our trust in the future. The foundations of the town lie in the forest indursty which is spread out along the River Kymi. Stora Enso Oyj and Myllykoski Paper Oy are the principal employers along with the town itself. The companies in Anjalankoski produce cardboard and paper for newspapers and magazines. About 4/5 of the people in Anjalankoski live in the vicinity of the River Kymi. The largest population centres are Myllykoski and Inkeroinen. Agriculture is also very intensive in Anjalankoski. A tenth of the population gets its income from agriculture and forestry. Although the largest rapids of the River Kymi have been harnessed to promote welfare, there is still plenty of natural beauty in Anjalankoski.

Anjalankoski`s nature

To the nature of Anjalankoski it belongs Kymijoki river which flows into the most lakes. In the nature of Anjalankoski there are many swams. In Anjalankoski there are good sport possibilities because there are good sport- and tennis field. In Anjalankoski there are good and longs condion paths to hevosmäki shooting ceuter.

In Anjalankoski you can be interested for many year´s time into everything. In spring and summer you can be interested in riding, swimming, rollerblading, rollerskiting, bowling, tennis, walking and football. In autum you can collect berries and mushrooms. In winter you can be interested in skiing, skating and ice hockey.

Myllykoski

Myllykoski is a densely populated community industry of Anjalankoski.

The railway station is in Kouvola-Kotka railway 12km from Kouvola to south. In Myllykoski there are paper factory of Myllykoski oy and every kind of industry. Myllykoski´s church, wich has build by W.G. Palmquist, was built in 1936. Orthodox chapel, wich is a the exact copy of Ägläjärvi tsasouna was built in 1940. In front of Myllykoski christian church is a plaza, where is sold all kind of things in summer.

In the vicility of Myllykoski is found fossils, like stonetolls and nets. Here is found first settlements, and that´s certainly for that, because here is good catch. In 1975 Myllykoski, Anjala, Inkeroinen, Keltakangas, Kaipiainen, Ummeljoki and Sippola combine and then born Anjalankosi. Kymijoki is also many kinds of frontier, wich was disparted Sweden and Russia

Myllykoski paper oy

Myllykoski Paper oy´s factory lies in Anjalankoski at the shore of the Kymijokiriver.The company belongs to internationaly Myllykoski-consern.Maincompany Myllykoski Oyj owns from Myllykoski Paper 65% and M-real Oyj 35%.

Myllykoski Papers products are woody undcoats and coated printing papers.Factorys the capacite of export is 520.000 tons in a year. Company´s turnover as year 2000 was about 380 million euros. Myllykoski Paper´s in service is about 1000 persons.

On a factory is four papermachines,wich on three make Sc-paper and one of them Lwc-paper.On this moment untill one Sc-paper of making machines is as stop for sometime for the weak inquiry.Myllykoski Paper´s produckts saleing global in connection with marketingnet to half hundred different countries. The mainmargetingarea is EU-countries.

Myllykoski Paper Oy started own company in Myllykoski-consern at year 1995 on the end.A consern maincompany Myllykoski Oyj is in a privaty owning beeing company, whose roots reatch into the year 1892.

Kymijoki-river

The west limit of Kouvola form Kymijoki. Whole Kymijoki`s water system area covers alittle bit under 11% from the area of Finland,and it is gliding area and stream Finland`s the fourth biggest river. Kymijoki`s valley is concerning the state valuable landskape-area,whose in the neighbourhood of which human settlement effect seems allways river`s since birth.

The banks of the river were settled at an early stage, specially near the rapids. This was how Anjalankoski itself was first settled. Even the name of our town derives from the rapids in the Kymijoki-river. Anjalankoski or Ankkapurha is said to be the oldest known name of rapids in Finland. The most significant periodin our history was at the end of the 18th century. In 1743 the border between Sweden and Russia was set on the Kymijoki-river and remained there until 1809. Because of the border Anjalankoski was the scene of many battles and events,especially at the end of the 1780`s.The Kymijoki-river is also the foundation of our industry. The industrialization along the river banks began in the 1730`s and the basis of our industry were created in the 1870`s and 1880`s, when the first groundwood-and papermills were built.

AAKOO

Aakoo is an ice hockey team from Anjalankoski.

Aakoo is very succesful ice hockey team.

Aakoo have difrent age groups t.ex. D-90,D-88 and 1-team.

Aakoo's practises are twice a week: at monday's and wensday's.Ice stadium is in Inkeroinen.Aakoo is founded in 1986.

We don't play very much ice hockey in practises because

We need training in skating.practises takes 1 hour at a time.

Ice hockey playing started usually 7 age years.we ice hockey team have very much players .

Mypa-47

Mypa is a football team from anjalankoski.

It was established december and year was 1947.

Action in 1940’s and 1950’s was only summerhappen.

In winter it was played often iceball.1960’s was advance

Normally at the owerage level of the Finish football.1970’s

Went strongly ahead.In the 1972 rice into 1.st division and in the 1974 rice into championchip league.In the 1975 Mypa fell down back in the 1.st division.1976-1981 years played in 1.st division.1982-1984 years played into 2.nd division.1985-1991 years played into 1.st division.Year 1991 Mypa rice into championchip league.Year 1995 Mypa won Finland cup.

Year 2002 Mypa took up silver into championchip league.

Many finish professonalplayer has come from Mypa,for example Sami Hyypia and Jari Litmanen.Mypa has also every kind of age junior players.
