My name is Catherine Witry, but every one calls me Ketty, which is the luxemburgish version of the name.

I was born  in 1979, on May, 26th, and am the youngster of the teachers in our school, a school that I frequented as a child.

I’m teaching 1st  grade (children from 6 to 7 years) in Schouweiler (Luxembourg). The class is composed of 18 nice personalities (10 girls and 8 boys), coming from 4 different countries.

My hobbies are reading (as far as I’ve got time), listening to music and above all my cat. I used to do some sports like volleyball or dancing, but for now I’m running out of time.

This is my first year as a teacher, and therefore, I have got plenty of illusions and visions how school and teaching should be like, and I do my best to realize all of them.

This is one of the reasons that made me participate in this project: I want my teaching not to be a sphere isolated from everything else, but to make it accessible for every one that may have an interest in it. Cooperation between teachers of the own school but also from other countries is a way to prevent stagnation one’s own conception of teaching.

Moreover I think that such a project is important and motivating for our children: they can communicate with people from other parts of Europe (or maybe even the world), exchange themselves, find out and accept that there are different cultures in which we live and that however there are always common things we share.

My motto concerning school: as long as the pupils have fun in learning and want to go to school, your are on the right way.
